OBJECTIVES:

By the end of the workshop delegates will be:

  • Able to understand existing management styles and how to use different styles and techniques to manage and direct the team dynamic for improved results.
  • Able to analyse criteria for team effectiveness and know how to measure team progress.
  • Able to lead, motivate and develop your team and yourself to ensure performance is optimised through different management style.

PROGRAMME DETAILS

Day One

  • Team Dynamics: How teams work, the expectation and the importance of equal stakeholding
  • Developing the team, how to achieve agreement on goals and methods. Ensuring the team works smoothly by co-ordinating effectiveness. Understanding the differences between individuals within the team and how to play to their strengths.
  • The Manager’s Role: What is the expectation of management? Management style – the autocrat, the laisses-faire and participative manager, which style works and when. The three elements of management – the task, team and individual.

Day Two

  • Effective Team building: Work through the four stages of successful team building: measure the effectiveness of your team by examining tangible and intangible measurement tools. Understanding the priorities and motivation of the individuals in your team.

Day Three

  • The Modern Supervisor: Understand the supervisor’s position within the organisation.
  • The responsibility and authority of a supervisor
  • The five key areas of team supervision: lead, communicate, organise, plan, control
  • Effective team leadership
    • meet the expectations of your team
    • learn the GRIPS Model of team leadership
    • set SMART goals and objectives
    • Appreciate the three key components of goal setting: task, team and individual.

  • Communicate for Success: Enrich and refine your team briefing and general communication skills
  • Learn to be assertive in difficult situations and overcome barriers to assertiveness.
