  • European Space Agency (ESA)Leading the design of massive MIMO antenna arrays and mmWave frequency-selective reconfigurable antennas for the Satellite Network of Experts V (SatNEx V). The project is funded by the European Space Agency (ESA);
  • Developing research objectives and proposals to support the Faculty grant applications to the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), to be submitted in April 2021;
  • Leading the sensor design research group with Tough Water Solutions Ltd. The project is funded by the Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) programme;
  • Supporting in the co-supervision, jointly with Professor Abd-Alhameed, of three postgraduate (2 PhD and 1 MSc) students and two undergraduate final year projects.

  • Working as an ESR 6 with 13 ESRs of 8 research groups, spread across 4 leading Universities/research institutions and 4 industrial partners in 5 different European countries, targeting a Secure Network Coding for Reduced Energy Next Generation Mobile Small Cells (SECRET). The project is funded by European Commission under the H2020 MSCA innovation programme;
  • Leading the Tunable 5G Transceiver Research and Innovation Group to develop an energy-efficient RF front end system within the SECRET-H2020-MSCA research and innovation programme;
  • Design and implement novel, reconfigurable/tunable filters and antennas for 5G transceivers;
  • Investigating the design of mobile phone and base station antennas for 5G microwave and mmWave bands;
  • The work has also included a six-month secondment with SARAS Technology Limited to study high-efficiency power amplifier implementation and to investigate the integration of power amplifiers, antennas and filters.
Research Visitor (Supported by the EPSRC) July’14 – Nov’14
  • Implementing planar antennas using CST and HFSS software. The designs were fabricated and measured using the network analyzer and anechoic chamber to prove the design concept;
  • Design, simulation, fabrication and measurements of frequency, polarization and radiation pattern reconfigurable antennas based on PIN diodes for LTE and 60 GHz mm-Wave 5G and beyond;
  • Working on optimization techniques such as Genetic Algorithms, Particle Swarm and Firefly algorithms.
