I am passionate about delivering engaging, fun and positive health and safety training for clients and assisting other training providers with the provision of freelance training services. I specialise in IOSH and NEBOSH training, with years of successful training experience. I also develop and deliver bespoke health and safety training courses on request. Recently delivering a ‘Safety in Industrial Plants’ course to an Oil and Gas company in Bahrain.
My training philosophy is built on strong foundations of close client relationships and course content that represents the client’s organizational values and policies.
I also offer health and safety consultancy services to clients.

My core role was the tutoring of key health and safety courses such as; IOSH Working Safely,
IOSH Managing Safely, IOSH Leading Safely, NEBOSH National General Certificate, NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety, NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management, the NEBOSH Diploma and bespoke courses, in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. Particularly, delivering courses to the Oil and Gas sector, Power
Generation, Manufacturing and Waste Management industries. I managed a team of associate tutors who support our training provision throughout the world. I also provided health and safety consultancy to a diverse business portfolio, ensuring clients are given professional and practical advice on all health and safety matters. Including audits, accident investigation, policy development and gap analysis.
I’ve worked closely with EDF, Heineken, SUEZ and Merck, Sharp and Dhome. I also managed a training co-ordinator and monitor all elements of the UK arm of OTS, including quotations, maintaining client relationships and business development etc.

Health and Safety Officer
Fitness First, North Division – February 2003 – December 2011

I was responsible for providing health, safety and environmental support to 60 health and fitness clubs located throughout the north of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. My role required regular visits to the clubs regarding risk assessment, accident investigation, audits and specific
topical training for all levels of staff and management. In addition I was frequently required to liaise with local Environmental Health Departments, Fire Authorities and Insurance Investigators. During my employment with Fitness First I was instrumental in reviewing and implementing specific changes required in the various areas of health and safety management including: legionella control, asbestos, fire safety, noise control, stress, manual handling and e-learning.

Health and Safety Officer
Parnaby Cyclones, Durham – November 1996 – February 2003

In 1996 I began to work for Parnaby Cyclones, which produces mineral processing equipment. I began as Co-Purchaser for the company, which meant I was responsible for the Purchasing department with the head buyer. In 1999 a position arose for a Health and Safety Officer, I decided to take up the position and began attending relevant courses to complement my new role. I was then in full control of all aspects health and safety management for the company, during which I rewrote the company health and safety policy, starting with a blank canvas,
putting fundamental health and safety procedures in place which significantly improved the company’s health and safety performance, improving training, reducing accident statistics and insurance premiums in the process.

I’m a chartered member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH), regularly attending local IOSH meetings and seminars.

PERSONAL INTERESTS

I love swimming, particularly open water swimming. I also enjoy professional development and I’m currently studying for a PhD in Organisational Health and Wellbeing.
